The roots

Organized crime was always a problem during the break up of Yugoslavia and Yugoslavian wars, followed by transition of Serbia and Montenegro. During the Yugoslavian wars, there were few paramilitary formations. Within these formations, there were plenty of criminals, who, in addition to the war, were looking to get as much profit as possible. One of the paramilitary formations was led by Svetozar and Rade Spasojevic.  The brothers established connections with Belgrade Underground during the war and met many future associates. Following the end of the war, now with their younger brother Desimir Spasojevic, sought new fields where they could earn cash. The group specialized in theft, weapon and heroin smuggling.

The new millennium

The turn of the century didn't bring any good news to the war torn country. The state was powerless to do anything against the organized crime families, Spasojevic's crew was not an exception. In addition to smuggling drugs and weapons, the group saw a new way to earn money. They saw new front to make profit in the people who were left desperate to get out of the poverty stricken Balkan region. They had opened a new human trafficking operation, which led their crew to profit quickly. The youngest brother Desimir fled to USA in 2005, with task to be their american connection.
Desimir Spasojevic had set up a drug distribution ring and prostitution ring and direct passage for people to be smuggled into the USA in the city of San Fierro. Over time, the group grew stronger, and soon became one of the strongest crews on the Balkans.

End of an era

Under pressure from the public and INTERPOL, the Serbian government was forced to take action against the criminal underground, especially against the Spasojevic group. The Belgrade Underground was crumbling under the police operation "THUNDER". Following a chain of drug house / brothel busts in early 2017 which led to many of the groups associates to be arrested. It was evident they had the whole police breathing down their necks, they had arranged a flight to San Fierro, along with their associates, to meet up with their brother Desimir.
