FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oct. 31, 2017

SAN FIERRO, San Andreas -- The San Andreas State Senate has voted to centralize the focus of the now former San Andreas Department of Transportation, and that starts with a name change. The new department is now named the San Andreas Department of Roads. The primary focus of SanDOR has shifted to road maintenance and construction. SanDOR will be handling all lane and road closures of state highways and contracted areas (San Fierro, Smokey, and Palomino Creek are current areas under contract). Road maintenance includes various upkeep duties, including but not limited to repairing pot holes and plowing snow. Road construction has been redefined as any long-term shoulder, lane, or road closures for various improvement projects.

District 2's Highway Supervisor, Michael Scott, stated that the re-branding is a welcome change for the two maintenance garages he runs on a day-to-day basis. He also oversees District 2's construction office, which provides planning for Flint County, Whetstone, and San Fierro. "Basically, what we're doing now, is focusing our attention on what we have always determined to be our priority. Now, we don't have to spend man hours and public funds on other initiatives that weren't beneficial to the general public."

The name change is effective as of today, October 31.
