Realism vs. Perceived Reality in Roleplay

Recommended Posts

Amen to that, I couldn’t agree more. Even though realism is an important concept when it comes to roleplaying, originality and creativity is what draws people in. As Turtleneck said, realism comes naturally through roleplaying an authentic character.

Should be titled "A guide on how to roleplay" tbh. Well-needed post. Thank you.

A very well-written guide. People should stop by and read it every now and then so they never forget what this game is about.

Beautifully put, my guy. With that said, a lot of people should read this and take a lesson from it.

I've always said it, realism only counts towards what is physically possible, everything else is down to creativity and believability. Roleplay is similar to other mediums in that we just act within the boundaries that are defined in our story world. Our model is based on the real world, but since the world is vast in real life, the stories are less defined. A lot of shit can happen, so it's just a question of what is believable in this GTA universe that we act in. A lot of that is up to the imagination and we create so much of it in the moment that the real world is just something we can identify this universe with.
